Selling My Photography at DEPART-ment
Next weekend I'll be selling my photos at DEPART-ment, Chicago's quarterly indie arts and crafts sale. My wife has sold her scarves and jewelry there before, but this will be my first time.

Sunbeams II

The artists at DEPART-ment always have cool items, so I'm excited to be a part of it. If this goes well, I'll try to sell my photography elsewhere.

If you're in the Chicago area, check out DEPART-ment during these times:
Friday, November 30, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Saturday, December 1, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, December 2, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location:
AV-aerie
2000 w. Fulton
Unit 310
Chicago, IL

YubNub/GoogleMaps/Flickr/GeoRSS Integration
Dan Catt points out that GoogleMaps now supports geoRSS feeds, and that you can use Flickr's geoRSS output to plot your geotagged Flickr photos on a GoogleMap.

I used his idea to create a YubNub command called "gmfl" to quickly load such a map. If you have YubNub installed in your browser, just type "gmfl" and your Flickr username from your Flickr url. For example:
gmfl sage

If you don't have YubNub installed, you can use the following url, replacing "sage" with your username.

Ticketmaster is Evil (But at least I Get to See The Pogues)
Why does Ticketmaster still exist? No other company makes me as irate as they do. How can you justify charging over $15 in "convenience" fees on a $50 ticket?

On top of their price scam, their website has a horrible user experience. Can anybody read this CAPTCHA??

Because Ticketmaster is so maddening, I won't casually go to any venue that uses them. I used them today because The Pogues (!!) are coming to Chicago. But I wouldn't have put up with Ticketmaster for any band that isn't in one of my top 10 favorites. That means venues are losing revenue.

Add an Event to Google Calendar using a Google Search.
UPDATE:  Never mind, I forgot that this link is a result of this Firefox extension, Google Calendar Quick Add.  I have so many extensions and greasemonkey scripts that I can't remember what's what!

Today I did a Google search that included a date, and above the regular results, Google gave the option to schedule the item I had searched.  When I clicked the link, it brought me to the Google Calendar "Create Event" page, filled out based on what was in my search.  I hadn't seen that before.

Pretty cool!

Although it's still not quite as cool as adding events to 30boxes.com.  If you try the url:
"http://30boxes.com/index.php?action=newEvent&input=private pick up laundry, sunday 3pm" (with the spaces), it will just add the event to your calendar without having to stop at a "create event" screen first (if you are logged in to 30boxes).
